Welcome to the Pipeline, Profession & Practice: Community-Based Dental Education (Dental Pipeline) website. The Dental Pipeline is a collaborative of U.S. dental schools that work to reduce oral health disparities.

This site serves as an information tool for dental schools interested in developing elements of the Dental Pipeline program, prospective dental students, and the general public.

Fifteen dental schools were supported in the first round of the Pipeline program from 2002-2007. These schools changed their recruitment practices to enroll more underrepresented minority and low-income students, and altered their curriculum to prepare students to provide care to patients in underserved communities. To learn more about these grantees and the impact of their work, please visit A Pipeline of Promise profile.

The second round of this program will continue the large-scale investment by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), to change the education and training of dental students.

Round 2 Grantees of the Pipeline Program Chosen to Improve Access to Dental Care

Round 2 grantees have been announced.

Eight schools have been selected to help decrease disparities in oral health care access, by increasing minority and low-income student enrollment and exposing students to significant community-based practices.

Congratulations to the new grantees!
