California Pipeline Program

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) started the Pipeline program in 2002 and funded 11 of the 15 participating schools in the Phase I program.  The California Endowment heard about the Pipeline project and provided funds for all California dental schools to participate.  In the Phase I program, the five California schools were fully integrated operationally into the national Pipeline program.

The Phase I Pipeline program ended (June 2007), and The California Endowment has provided funding for another three years.  Known as the Phase II program, it only includes the California schools.  There is a Phase II RWJF Pipeline program, but it operates separately from the Phase II California program.

This section of the Pipeline Website provides an overview of the Phase I program and Phase II program in California, a special section for California college students, a description of Pipeline partner organizations in California, a toolkit of available materials that dental school and community clinics can use to more effectively care for diverse patients, and a list of upcoming events and announcements.

The Phase II California Pipeline Program Office is based at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, University of Pacific in San Francisco.

The program co-Directors are:

The California Endowment is a private, state-wide health foundation with approximately $3 billion in assets.  It was established in 1996 to expand access to affordable, quality health care for underserved individuals and communities and to promote fundamental improvements in the health status of all Californians.  Visit www.calendow.org for more information.
