Curriculum Development Dental Education, On and Off Campus
The Pipeline, Profession & Practice: Community-Based Dental Education (Dental Pipeline) Program recognizes two equally important areas of curriculum development:
- The preparation for off-site practical experience, and
- The off-site practical experience itself, which takes place in community-based facilities and private practices that treat underserved populations.
Traditional curriculum preparation involves classrooms, lecture halls, and labs – but Dental Pipeline includes subjects currently understated in the curriculum, such as the behavioral sciences and public health. Armed with this training, students go into the field to practice their dental skills with a more complete understanding of those to be served.
